get connected

At Community Church, we believe deeply that the ministry of the church is carried out through the lives of its members. As a lay-driven church, those who worship at Community Church are encouraged to take their involvement in the church a step further. While we certainly recognize the benefits of regular, weekly worship, we feel that the true personal spiritual growth — and the ability to help others grow in Christ — happens when our members get involved in the man other opportunities available at Community Church.

We want you to get involved! Our ministry opportunities are organized under the following six different areas: worship, discipleship, ministry, evangelism, fellowship and resources. We trust you will find an opportunity to further your faith through one of our ministry areas.

If you have questions regarding any aspect of that Community Church, please contact the church office at 724-744-3413 or info@communityumchurch.com.

Discipleship, the process by which people grow to become more Christ-like, is at the very heart of our church’s mission: To Know Christ and to Share Christ with Others. We believe that this requires that we be in the Word daily: studying it, praying over it and obeying it.

Community Church offers a selection of Bible-based study opportunities to help members grow in their faith. Small groups and short-term Bible studies begin at various times throughout the year. In-depth, time-intensive Bible studies begin each fall.

Disciple is an in-depth, discussion-based small group Bible study. Its purpose is to transform our lives by strengthening our faith while guiding us into service. All classes begin in the fall and meet weekly on a designated day/evening for approximately 2 ½ hours. Note: After completing Disciple 1, subsequent Disciple class studies may be taken in any order.

Becoming Disciples through Bible Study is the class to take if you’re looking for an overview of the Bible. Participants read over 70% of the Bible over the course of 34 weeks, spending an equal number of weeks studying the Old and New Testaments.

Recognizing that not everyone can commit to a 30+ week Bible study, we also offer short-term (typically 8-12 weeks) small group Bible study opportunities. The topics and times vary depending on interest, but we try to offer a variety of studies using materials by well-respected Christian leaders.

We strive to make our four weekend worship services meaningful expressions of our love for God that carries on as we leave the church and throughout our daily living. Community Church encourages worshipers to actively participate in our weekly service, and the church offers a variety of ministries for all ages that allow each participant to make worship a more personal experience.

Whether it is preparing the sanctuary for worship, providing music during the service or acting as a liturgist, it is our hope that each member will discover a way to be more involved in worship.

This committee’s goal is to make each person worshiping at Community Church feel welcomed and connected. Coordinating social events and personally calling on visitors are part of this important ministry. Additionally, the committee hosts coffee hour each Sunday between services.

Special events give members the opportunity to have fellowship in enjoyable, meaningful ways. As a congregation that enjoys spending time with each other, Community Church schedules these events regularly throughout the year. Past outings have included Christian concerts, Dinners for Eight and movie nights at church.

Some church events are so enjoyable that they have become annual traditions, such as Breakfast with Santa, the Easter egg hunt, and the summer Church picnic. Additional events, such as adult retreats and camping weekends, have also been coordinated.

At Community Church, we believe we do church pretty well. Our music is top notch, our teachings are solid, and our opportunities for fellowship are abundant. We care for each other! But what happens at Community Church isn't meant to stay at Community Church--it is meant to be shared with those who need to hear the Good News! It is our hope and prayer that each person worshiping with us feels the need to share God's love with everyone they see.

At Community Church, we make every effort to meet the needs of the congregation and surrounding community. Whether the need is emotional, physical or spiritual, it is our hope that we can provide support for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Life happens. An illness can sneak up on you. A job can disappear. A relationship can damage you. Community Church can’t promise to fix all of your problems or prevent them from happening, but we can assure you that we will be with you when trouble comes your way. Below you’ll find a sampling of ministry opportunities available through Community Church.
